Values

March 1, 2024

In order to know if you’re living in line with what’s important to you, you have to first check if you have fully identified what you stand for, what your values are, what you care about.

It’s important to know what you are willing to put yourself on the line for.

What will you give up or what will you fight for or against in order to stay aligned with what you believe in?

Maybe you have lost touch with what you believe in because your voice has been silent or silenced for so long. This is hard. But possible to recover from.

It’s different for everyone, but whatever the answer is, discovering what your values are will signpost your journey, and will put you on the right track.

Values don’t tell you where to go, but they let you know what direction to keep heading in.

The flip side is if you are not sure what you believe in, what is important to you or what you’re willing to stand up for. If we don’t know what our values are, we can slowly, almost imperceptibly, fall off the right track over months or years into a lane that fundamentally leads us into feeling quite lost, disconnected and even hijacked if we have let ourselves be coerced, led along by another’s goals or values.

This leads us away from ourselves and what matters to us and can be a source of symptoms like anxiety and depression.
